Celebrating Spring in the North

Springtime festivals across the North bring together residents of the community and visitors to celebrate the end of a long winter and the return of the sun and longer days. Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet and Cambridge Bay are communities that celebrate this annual tradition in style, and Canadian North is proud to be a part of the festivities.

Each festival blends both traditional and modern contests and draws a huge number of participants and spectators alike. There is something for everyone - from igloo building, ice sculpting and harpoon throwing to snowmobile races, scavenger hunts and sea-ice golf. There is no shortage of entertainment and Northern hospitality.

Canadian North invites you to visit Nunavut in the spring and take in one of the many festivals.

See you there!

May - Pakalluk Time

Held annually in Rankin Inlet, on the western shores of Hudson Bay, this celebration brings snowmobile racers and spectators from across the North along with many traditional cultural events.

May - Omingmak Frolics

Cambridge Bay is home to this annual celebration named for the muskox, literally translated to 'the animal with skin like a beard'. This festival features an ever-changing slate of events that may include a competitive seal hunt, talent show, snowmobile races, children's games, ice chiselling, fishing contests, cooking and tea boiling.

May 12-13 - Yellowknife's Greatest Indoor Show

Visit Canadian North at Yellowknife's Greatest Indoor Show.

The annual Yellowknife trade show is expecting 7000 visitors this year and will be featuring specials sections such as: the Travel Section, Boat and Auto Show, Community Corner, A Taste of Yellowknife Food Court and an on-site Spa.

Be sure to visit us at Booth 100 in the Travel Section and enter your name for one of our many great door prizes, including trips anywhere Canadian North flies.
